Fast-growing Invotek adds to depth of its industry, technical, and investing expertise
Invotek Group Inc, a leading electronics manufacturing services company, recently appointed Bob Hakeem, Stefan (Steve) Proniuk, and Stephen Toy to its board of directors. They join Paul LaCroix, CEO of Invotek and chairman of the board and Peter Schmied, COO and President of Invotek and board director. The new appointees each bring tremendous experience to a crucial role at a time of rapid growth for the company, and Invotek is very pleased to have them join in our organization’s strategic decision making.
Paul LaCroix said of the appointments, “Our group of companies has been expanding and we’re confident that expansion is going to continue. We wanted to add to the robustness of our corporate governance going forward, and we’ve certainly done that here. In terms of diversity of skills alone, this was a great decision.”
Bob Hakeem is executive vice president and chief human resources officer at Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC), and the former president of CTC venture fund, Roller Labs. He has held multiple strategic leadership and human resources management positions in a variety of industries, including retail and financial services, and was Chief Operations Officer at Walmart Canada for 11 years before joining CTC.
Steve Proniuk was vice president and general counsel for Multimatic Inc. for 16 years before retiring from that position in December 2023. He began his career in the early 1980s as a corporate lawyer at a Bay Street law firm in Toronto, Ontario. After moving from private practice to industry, he was the legal counsel for various international businesses, including Magna International (Cosma International stamping group in 1987). Steve was part of the management team that took Tesma International public (TSX and Nasdaq) in 1995. In 2006, Tesma was privatized, and Steve was part of the team that integrated Tesma back into Magna (Magna Drivetrain and now Magna Powertrain).
Stephen Toy is a co-founder and managing partner at Broad Peak Global Capital (BPGC). Before founding BPGC in 2020 he was global head of private equity at Invesco and WL Ross & Co. LLC. Prior to that, he worked in mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructuring at Rothschild Inc. He has served on a number of public (Amalgamated Bank; EXCO Resources) and private (Elessent Clean Technologies, Kansai Sawayaka Bank; Compagnie Européenne de Wagons) boards, and graduated summa cum laude from State University of New York at Albany.
The five members of Invotek’s board bring decades of experience and expertise to the task of stewarding the organization into the future and are well prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
